Join the The Hands Off Assata Campaign in an International mobilization to call on the State of New Jersey and the U.S. Department of Justice to rescind the illegitimate $ 1 million dollar bounty on Assata Shakur (s/n Joanne Chesimard), remove her name from the F.B.I. domestic terrorist list, and ultimately issue Ms. Shakur a rightful, long overdue pardon.

Check out film maker Gloria Rolando's "Eyes Of The Rainbow" which focuses on Assata's life as a political exile in Cuba.

HANDS OFF ASSATA OLUGBALA SHAKUR!

LONG LIVE THE CUBAN REVOLUTION!

Hands Off Assata!

Assata Shakur To Celebrate
Her 60th Earthday in 2007

On the night of May 2nd 1973, Assata Shakur was shot twice by the New Jersey State Police.
Also shot were her comrades Sundiata Acoli and Zayd Shakur ( shot fatally).
Assata was kept on the ground, kicked, pulled, dragged along by her hair. When she was finally put into an ambulance, the police would not let the ambulance leave. Police kept asking the ambulance attendants, "Is she dead yet?, Is she dead yet"?
Finally, when it was clear that she wasn't going to die in the next five to ten minutes, they took her to the hospital. The police were jumping on her, beating her, choking her, doing everything that they could possibly do as soon as the doctors and nurses would go outside.
They would not stop torturing her. But Assata would soon escape her tormentors.
Now Assata is in exile and living peacefully in Cuba.
